Product Design Requirement Template

Sharing my Product Design Requirements Document template with you all - something I've created for my previous product design teams.

In a team setting, product managers and/or design leads typically write this document. Some companies might combine this document with the Product Requirements Document (PRD), as there is some overlap between the two documents.

No matter what you call it at work, or whether you decide to create an official design requirements document, it's worthwhile to do some research and define the requirements with your cross-functional team before starting the design process. Missing or mismatched design requirements can lead to poor user experiences, costly redesigns, and increased development time and costs.

It is also worth mentioning that you don’t need to fill in all the blanks on the template. This template is just a starting point that will assist you in outlining every detail, from goals to timelines, with writing guidelines. Be adaptive and create your own version for your projects.
